I think the timing of matches affects the risk factor as well.

Sunday afternoon games were pretty safe as all the Scallys would be still in bed having been up half the night robbing cars, breaking into houses, getting smacked up, shooting each other etc.

Friday night however is when these demons come out to play. Nice weather is perfect for scum, as they know people leave windows in cars and houses open.
They also have Saturday to offload any stolen items.

Get there early and park on the church car park by the stadium (junction of Weaste Lane & Chandos Grove). I've never had any problems when I've done it, but know of quite a few fans who have had their cars "done" when parking in nearby streets, particularly close to the small bridge that crosses the M602 on Weaste Road leading to Eccles New Road.
