So I would put Wigan from that at 21 senior players plus 2 very good youngsters.

We're at 17 plus some very young greenhorns.

Fine. You win.

But you've missed off Hock, Pryce,O'Carroll and Farrell who are all pretty experienced and the likes of Mossop, Charnley and Tuson, the first two of which are far better/more experienced than our equivilents (Who would probably be the likes of Forster, Makinson and Hale?).

I didn't miss off Hock, I specifically referred to him and the conditions that allow him to be in wigan's squad.

Karl Pryce was loaned out as Wigan can't afford him under the cap, so bit daft to include him.

O'Carroll/Farrell/Mossop/Charnley/Tuson will have played a similar number of games as Ashurst/Dixon/Magennis/Foster/Lomax so not much difference in experience.

I've already said I would agree that the young Wigan forwards are stronger players than the young Saints forwards, but that is through talent not experience.

I would add Mossop to your list. Also whilst Farrel and Charnley may still be young and relativley inexperienced they are fantastic players, and IMO a step up from anything Saints have at that age in those posistions.

As for experienced players leaving us before next year. Coley's certainly going to retire and Deacon's more than likely going to join him. Hoffman and Carmont are still fifty fifty as to whether they'll be at Wigan next year, and Fielden and Roberts will certainly be at Wigan next year, as their both contracted for 2012.

I'd be very surprised were Wigan to make more than 1 signing for next year, I really would. That's of course assuming the players who are undecided on whether to leave or not, do inded stay.

We'll no doubt see the likes of Mellor, Crosby, and a whole host of other youngsters get a chance next year. And from what I've seen of them they certainly won't let us down.

He's played 50 games for Wigan, Ashurst has played 55 for Saints.

It comes back to the same point - Wigan's squad isn't really more experienced, but their young forwards are better players which makes them seem so.

There's nothing to suggest Charnley will turn out better than Foster/Makinson yet, and we could equally say Jonny Lomax is a better prospect than anything Wigan have in that position. Again experience wise there's nothing in it, talent wise there may be.

So probably down on experience for 2012.

The reason I thought Mossop qualified for your list. Is because he's made twice as many appearances for Wigan, than Wheeler has for Saints, who you included on the Saints list.

The reason I say Charnley at present looks the better prospect in the threequarter line than the two you mention above, is because of Josh's superb stats on the SL website, and the fact that Josh does look IMO the better player. He's rarely dominated in the tackle and as the stats suggests is a real handful when returning the ball.

A little certainly. But it's about the likes of Sam, Joel and Prescott stepping up and showing that they can lead the team and be that calming influence on some of the younger heads.

Looks similar to Ainscough to me. Game as you like, good finisher but has mistakes in him.

Hope you're right though, the more decent English backs the better IMO.

He does suffer from butter fingers at times. Then again Joel does throw him some shocking passes from time to time.

What's encouraging from him, that wasn't from Shaun. Is the fact that he's improving and learning from his mistakes. I'm led to believe he's a centre by trade, and as shown by his loan spell at Hull KR, is good enough to play in that position already, and more than hold his own. He's a far different and better player than Ainscough IMO.

Saddened made a good point about Josh on another thread. He's not built like our usual young threequarters scrawny and weak. He's got a real physical presence about him when he plays. Yeah he's got deficiencies in his game as have all youngsters, but as I've said already it's the fact that he's improving in those area's that's so encouraging.

Not trolling but it would be interesting to see how you would rank those players in terms of talent/skill as i think we would be pretty evenly matched

Setitamata Sa is out of contract with Catalan at the end of the season....he's been having a good season I would hope Saints would try and make a move for him as he would add depth to our squad?
