Laffranchi is a very good player and highly respected at good coast and the NRL.

I agree with all of that BUT what he isnt is a stand out superstar which is the type of signing you would want for the money you are paying him (and the fact that he is taking up a quota spot).

I cant help but think in 12 months time we will be on here discussing how Laffranchi reminds us of a new Chris Flannery, who whilst a very solid pro, is hardly a Dave Fairleigh, Darren Britt or Dave Taylor - who incidentally would be my No 1 target if I had a SL franchise and a bag full of cash!!

Certainly. But do Frenchies count on the quota? Is French in our Federation?

As EU citizens they'll have a right to work anywhere in Europe, so that would keep them off the Quota list.

Players produced by Catalans must surely belong to the same federation as the rest of the players trained at other SL clubs. There might be a problem if Raguin joined Catalans at a later age (i.e. older than 21) after learning his trade in the French domestic league, which, one would assume, must be classed as a different federation.
