Farrell was someone who had given his all to Rugby League and to Wigan. He was then over thirty years of age, in fact he was 31 before he played his first game of Rugby Union, an age by the way that Paul Sculthorpe retired.
He was offered a long term contract (which Wigan sensibly wouldn't have offered him) by Rugby Union.
He went on to play for England, and secured his families future.
Anyone who says that they wouldn't have done the same is either a liar or stupid.
