In some way I agree, but what would happen if one of the Superleague reserve sides won the NL1 competition.
Where would that leave the likes of Widnes, Leigh etc application for Superleague at the next franchise?

Good Question

if they cant beat a superleague sides' reserve team they dont deserve a license
And there is the answer. If your team is not good enough to beat a Superleague second team then why should you be given the opportunity to play the first team. How can letting in Widnes who can only just beat a Saints second team improve superleague?

That way they'd get a more competitive game but they would be way to many games to accommodate in a season.
Well you would just create some more divisions then. 13 second teams plus 21 national league teams would go nicely into three divisions.
The quality of Second Grade football is much poorer in this country than in Austrailia. You can tell this by looking at the way Aussie 2nd teamers fit into the first team much faster than over here. It would also give National league players an incentive too. If you know you are playing against someone that is a potential first teamer and you outplay them that that is going to boost your chance of being spotted.
