I think we all know the Golden Boot was a novelty vote for British RL, Farrell was never the best player in the world.

I'd say he deserved to captain GB when he did though early in his career. He shouldn't have captained for so long though when his performances for GB proved that he possibly didn't warrant being picked, let alone captain.

Farrell was a good player. Technically limited, but made up for it with his desire and leadership. Not in Sculthorpes class though

Andy Farrell was a brilliant forward.
I think the mid section of his career suffered from him slimming down, perhaps because he belived his own press and wanted to be a mercurial playmaker, but when he got back to doing his thing, he was great - Big presence and an even bigger heart.

At one point GB had a back row of Sculthorpe, Farrell and Peacock, which was something even the aussies could envy.

The word in bold covers a lot of bases.

I would say Farrell was a 'brilliant forward' for Wigan, never for GB though. He was a 'brilliant' prop forward at all levels but could anyone seriously say he was a 'brilliant' LF or SR for GB ? Not a chance.

Was never as good as Sinfield

Farrell's performances for GB were not much better than Sinfield's.

The pies need a character like auld faz, they have O'Loughlin I guess though
