Not quite the same thing at all dear boy.

Bird assaulted partner and lies to police, convicted of assault and perjury. Leon assaults man with glass causing several wounds, convicted of assault, Leon again assaults a man and gains another criminal conviction for assault.

How you then try to equate these facts to the logic of murderer v parking tickets is beyond me

Nope not missed it at all, no-one really gives a stuff about Bird or his conviction, however many people dislike Leon for numerous reasons but will use his two convictions of assault as justification for it.

Why would they dislike Leon 'for numerous reasons'? How many of these people have actually met Leon? It wouldn't be the colour of his skin that may be at the source of their dislike perchance would it? Not that I could ever imagine racism being a part of our, er, family sport. Or envy maybe? He's a beltin player so maybe other fans wish he was part of their team? Probably a bit of both, I'd say.

People don't have to meet Leon to form an opinion about him, he's in the public eye and people will base their opinions of him on what they read/see/hear about in the various media.

I can't speak for others but for me personally the colour of his skin makes not one iota of difference. Again speaking for myself only, I don't feel envy about his skills either, I enjoy watching rugby league and have done so for as long as I can remember, I played the game when younger but never once wished I had the skills to play at the top level, I was happy playing for recreational purposes only.

My dislike of him stems from not his convictions for assault funnily enough, but rather some of his onfield actions.
