I'd rather be able to se the big screen than the scoreboard.
You should still be able to see the big screen in the west stand, just as you can see it from the main stand now at Knowsely road, even though its on the same corenr of the ground as the main stand. The key thing will be how far back in the north west corner the screen will be placed, as this will be what influences visibility most.
One thing to note is that fans in the west stand should have no difficulty seeing the scoreboard, which will be there for every match and not just Sky games. Unless Saints plan on having a permanent video board, which i doubt.
Thinking about it, im curious as to whether in the final build things get altered, with the screen infact placed in the North East corner. The reason behind this thinking, is that originally the TV vans were supposed to be parked in the North West corner of the ground, with the associated TV box in the North stand.
TV vans have now been moved to an area behind the East stand, with the TV gantry in the south stand. Therefore it would make more sense to put the video screen up on the north east corner, as this would mean less cabling. infact looking on the st.Helens planning website, the councils own document details TV cabling as a health and safety issue that needs resolving before construction can begin.
In essence they dont want lots of thick cabling trailing across the pavement around the ground and causing a hazard to fans attending the ground. I therefore suspect they will therefore make provision for the cabling to be either ducted under removable covers around the ground, or else hoisted on poles above ground
