Wilkin's best ever game in a Saints shirt on Sunday. The two 40/20s were brilliant and his defence just gets better and better. Tremendous performance. He is in the best run of form that he's had at the moment and I wonder if it's a true coming-of-age period for him in the same way that I remember Paul Loughlin having after he beat Leeds in the JPS Trophy. Loughlin's run of form that year propelled him from being a soild player into one of our best.

an early punt for MOS ? His tackling and general work rate before sunday were awesome, but now with a fantastic kicking game to boot.

Later on in the 2007 we had a tough run of fixtures and more than our fair share of injuries, up until that point Wilkins form had been excellent. I expected him to kick on and perform as he did yesterday. It didn't happen then, but he's shown he's definately got it in him.

The question for me now is whether his recent road down the more industrious back row role has been dictated by Wilkin or his coaches.
I assume we all think now's the time for Wilkin to really grab the 13 shirt and add his own creative edge, but in an age of such strictly thought out and structured moves, do Saints (from Potter's POV) actually want a ball playing 13?

I'd say he is the running so far.

Interesting point. From what I have seen so far, Potter seems to like his 13 as another prop/big forward with Clough and TP playing the role alot this season.

Even if he doesn't play a creative role, he could still take a more active part in the kicking.

But I'd be inclined to say we'd benefit a great deal from having another ball player in the side.
