I think we are now paying price for letting players go and not replacing them.

I'd say it's more down to the salary cap. The cap is preventing us holding onto some players who can get better deals elsewhere e.g. Gilmour and Long. The cap was introduced to assist with promoting good financial management at clubs and to prevent a team from dominating the market for players by gobbling them up with their superior financial resources. With the cap the ownership of players (I mean contracts not slavery) means that Huddersfield might want to pay more than we're prepared to pay because of other commitments we have to consider in the face of the cap i.e. holding onto our youngsters.

I think I must be alone with Jack Dearden and Trevor Hunt in loving the unpredicatability of this season. Wakefield winning at Saints. Salford winning at Leeds. Clubs like Huddersfield and Castleford getting two points at Bradford more frequently than they have done in a long is a great indicator of the increased competitiveness of this competition. What we should have is a situation at the start of the season where every team believes they have a genuine shot at a trophy. We're not quite there but we're making progress e.g. look at the table and where Huddersfield, Rovers and the Bulls are. It's incredible stuff and this year's Challenge Cup semi-finals present arguably the most interesting semi-final line-up in years. I believe, as I imagine most fans do, that each of the teams left in the competition has a genuine chance of winning the trophy. Saints might be favourites but it's far from the far gone conclusion that Challenge Cup semi-finals had become.

We must be paying these kids a good wedge if we on the brink of the SC.

Scully, talau, fozzard, bennet, long, cayless, gilmour and prob few others have left the club or will have next year.

That is some serious dough off the wage bill.

We have only brought 1 player in over last 2 years and 1 coming in next year.

I'd understand if sir mac came out and told us we are in the credit crunch so cutting back which most would understand.

Personally I think when KC comes off the cap we will be signing a few more players as he must be the top earner now since Scully retired and imo rightly so!

I think scully would he have been highest earner at saints with KC and longy not to far behind.

I also think JC would be very well paid but from what I hear we not signing anyone else.

We have 2 sign another big prop at least. We cant afford to go in with Graham, Hargreaves, Fa'asavalu, Puletua and Frodsham. If one of them get bust for the season for example Graham we will be up poop creek without doubt.

Id say we need 2 props.

We don't pay tony p at prop and bryn just ain't good enough.

Frodsham still few years off yet so we only got graham and maurie who worth talking about.

Don't blame Wello for his kicks really as he's not a kicker but was asked to do a job nobody else wants to do :?:
Thats why Potter needed to pick Foster or Jamie Ellis who both kick in the Academy quite well :?: and fit them in

I wasn't blaming him for his kicks; he's not a good kicker. I was blaming Potter for not having a half decent kicker in his 17.

To lose by 2 points and to miss 6 kicks out of 6 is a disgrace. Potter sort of avoided this in his sky interview.
