He should never be anywhere near an international shirt again.

Problem is as was shown at the weekend. Peter Fox at KR has some severe defensive deficiencies.
He was knowhere for 2 of Warringtons trys.

Up there with Rikki Sheriffe as the shi*est winger in super league. Caught out of position for a number of try's this season. All it takes is one good pass down Ade's side from the oppositions half back and the team are away.

Funny how people call Meli for being slow. Gardner is the sloth, he cant turn for a kick to save his life. Absolute waste of a shirt.

all gardner does is walk 1 cm and plonk the ball down from ridiculously good play by either gidley or before him lyon.

Have to agree in the main. In the early 90's, you had the likes of Martin Offiah, Jon Devereaux, Alan Hunte, Anthony Sullivan, Mark Preston, Jon Bentley and Paul Eastwood. Even the likes of Mark Forster and David Plange were no where near as gaffe prone as the current lot.

If we are talking only gaffes, I'd still pick Gardner over Offiah....and Hunte for that matter.

Surely you are confusing some great, elusive runners with proper all round wingers?

Me too. Hunte was most complete British winger i have seen.
He had pace size, agility, could tackle, could pass and field a high ball.

infact he was good enough to play fullback and centre.

Gardner is the archetypal modern winger, 6ft 2in, 15 stone, reasonably quick, decent returner of football, solid tackler and solid under the high ball.

If Hunte was playing now he'd be on massive wedge. In the era of the SC the emphasis seems to be on Centres over wingers. There isn't 1 class winger in superleague

To be fair Wingers have always only been as good as their centres.

Its why if you look at the Aussies they have awesome centres but the wingers are in the main nothing special excitement wise.

And also the reason that if a good one turns up, he can rip up the opposition Vianakolo (or however you spell it) was a good example here (not so much in defense).
