I think something that is underappreciated in Quinlan is how good his positioning is in defence. His tackling is poor, but a lot of the kicks tonight are kicks that would have caught Lomax or McDonnell out of position.
I've been a critic of Masoe on the basis of his performances this year, but he's earned a spot in the team tonight. He was everywhere, and I think for me the encouraging thing was his eagerness. There was one set in the first half where he made 3 or 4 tackles in a row. He was also the first to two loose balls. For a big man, that's the sort of thing that shows he's willing to do the hard stuff.
