when saints have the role on they are by far the best team in our league. but when they get trapped in their own half they look cluless!! because when the going gets tough the only member of your pack who puts his hand and and has the ability to do somthing about it is graham. maurie just cant do that. for a prop he is a luxury england cant afford against the the big 2 imo.
Good role, although Clough is doing his best to help at the mo. Faas is good as a "specialist 4th choice" but should only ever be considered for that role.

Since 2006 we've lost Anderson, Fozzard and (essentially) Cayless, that's 3 very big set of boots to fill. Clough and Puletua are back rows who've performed admirably, but we are lacking one more mature prop.
I've posted elsewhere that were walking a funny line - give us one more good (not necesserily great) prop and our pack'd be as near as unstoppable as the salary cap would allow, but on the flip side, if Graham got injured, we'd be struggling to compete with half the forward packs in the league!

I wonder if Tesco sell prop forwards, we must be well and truly under the cap this season?

Lynch should have been selected far ahead of Maurie, he's been brilliant in a struggling side.

I don't think you will get anyone, bar the idiots who see a good run a game as a good game, disagreeing with you.

I disagree. Lynch is a regular prop, the kind we have many of and better players in Graham, Peacock, Morley and Burgess. We don't need another in the initial 17 man Elite squad.

Maurie has been picked as he is about the only British player with the ability to be an impact player.

Is he being picked on his 2007 form?

No he's being picked as he's not got much competition for his specific place in the setup. He is also probably the best athlete we have, certainly none of the other suggestions for forwards have anything like the power he has.

I wish no Saints players would get picked to play along side some of that shower!

I'll have my Kiwi Jersey on in a few months.

Tony p as yet to put his hand up agaisnt Leeds, wigan or any of the big teams.

I like him and he been great signing so far but he seems to go missing when other teams pack gets on top of ours.

Also he grabs alot in defence
