Many years ago I was sat in an airport and who should be there but Maurice Lindsay, so we got chatting about Rugby League in general and Wigan in particular.
The point people are making about a player like Thurston came up. I asked him if the best player in a position became available and Wigan already had the third or fourth best player in that position what would he do.
"If we could afford him, and the coach could integrate both players I would bring him to the club. If we couldn't integrate both payers then we would look to move the other player on."
Basically what he was saying was that he thought it was his duty to bring the best players available to the club if they could afford it, and I'm sure McMannus and Lenagan would feel duty bound to do the same.
