If we sign Long back I would be very unhappy. Not what we need if Kyle goes. Oh, and to the person who said we don't have £175, well, considering we have some very rich people on the board, I would assume we do have money should we actually ever need to dip into the pot.

When was the last time we bought a player?
People keep saying we have rich people on the board, can't think of last time we paid for a player.

when have we had to? in superleague the two most successful teams are us and leeds, when was the last time either bought a star player? thats no coincidence

I'd say four grand final loses on the bounce, no strike players, playing last two seasons with only one centre would justify bringing someone in.
Do you think we'd have signed LMS, perry and Shenton if they wasn't free?
I know the maybe salary cap issues as well but let's be honest, we can't afford to be paying £175,000 on players.

I really think we could afford it, apart from Mc theres some serious wedge on the BOD, but they're not flash idiots like Moran at wire and the great signings we get are free, or home grown. The best import into superleague in the last 5 yrs was lyon and he was free, then noone thought we could replace him, but what do you know we did, again with someone who was the best centre in the league. Wire paid big for Myler and he struggles to get a game for them now!

I wouldn't say Moran is a flash idiot, I'd say he has done a great job since he took over.
IMO we will never be able to compete with wigan, Warrington and Leeds in the transfer Market.
The days of saints paying for players are well gone.

I have to disagree with you here Pete, when did Leeds last buy a player? We signed Perry, LMS and Shenton this year, which team got better new signings than that?

I'd say Wigan have made better signings this year.
It's ok having " cashed up" board members but are they willing to put there hands in the pockets and spend few hundred thousand on players?
I don't think so. And who could blame them in the current climate.
Let's say eastmond leaves now, that leaves us short at scrumhalf, but thurstsn says he'd love to play for saints but his club want £200,000.
Do you think saints would pay that for the best 7 in the world ?
By the way, I'm not bagging sir mc or the BOD as I think they are doing good job but I'm just stating the days of saints spending big on transfers are over.
