Seems like an admin error. From the reports at the time it was announced, I dont think his application had been submitted until someone (Meli?) realised he didnt have a visa that was valid.

Meli has still not arrived from New Zealand, but Potter said: “I spoke to him on Sunday and he gave me an indication that it was any time soon. He is going to book a flight as soon as he gets his hands on his passport.”

Surely the club shouldn't be paying him if its his error and would have ripped up his contract.

Surely we could sign an adequate replacement.
