Well with a year left on his deal he ought to be working harder if he wants to carry on playing here or anywhere else. It's funny, I never thought we'd miss Iestyn that much but we are. Failing to get a replacement for him has really left us short in the playmaking department. While Menzies might be a stop gap he's more of a runner than a playmaker, and he performed that role at Manly. To take advantage of Menzies at stand off the rest of the side would need to support him a lot more than they currently do.
if deacon is out for wigan game then it'll be interesting to see who we play in the halves. jeffries to halfback is obvious but which off morro/menzies would we play at standoff given that other would almost certainly have to move to loose forward in langleys absence.
also assuming burgess is out are we likely to give crossley a shot?. sound like newton and godwin will both recover in time so assuming scruton and kopczak start bench would most likely be godwin, james, crossley and one of whitehead/crookes. given that a win away at wigan with the 5 first teamers out is doubtful would be an ideal game to give some of the younger players a run out and see what they can do. It certainly worked for wigan last week with tomkins and ainscough showing up some of the bigger names in the wigan team.
