Anyway we move on, the actual final is actually a bit of a farce if it is like last year. Everyone has left Wembley to go celebrate the main CC game.

Think most clubs are most interested in the IMG points rather than the cup itself.

Actually a lot left because the game before went to golden point and a lot of fans watching this didn't factor in this when doing their travel plans and had to leave early. Proper cocked up a lot fans plans. A lot of fax fans missed their team winning.

I'm sure the mouth watering prospect of watching a one sided game between two championship teams will keep people in their seats and it won't just be Wakefield and Sheffield fans left in Wembley.

That said I am gutted we aren't there. After everything we've been through a day out at Wembley would do wonders for our club and fans.

As a concept I don't mind the 1895 cup. The Cup Final needs to be better attended so if having more than one game on helps that then all the better. I'm decrepit enough to remember the old Premiership Final double header at Old Trafford that was pre SL and it was always well attended thanks to there being four teams there on the day.

I do think though that the 1895 game should be before the main cup final not after it. If that means dropping the kids game to accommodate the women's final too then so be it.

Well perhaps I’m in the minority but I’d rather it was its own event and if that means playing it at a smaller venue then so be it. I think it is disrespectful to the Championship clubs to play if at the end of the CC Final once all the other games have been played.

The 1895 competition lacks credibility as it is - with none of the semi finals being streamed or broadcast is amateur in this day and age. As I say.. I think the only worthwhile part of the competition was picking up some IMG points.

Also I should add a congratulations to Bradford for the pre match efforts. There was a definite buzz about the place with the various food outlets, live bands etc. The stadium is tired but it definitely had a slight nod back to SL days.

Good to see a decent away following too for a change.

On the field we did well to make a contest of it for the first 40mins. We fell away in the second period but I think we expected that. It just shows the gap between semi pro and professional. It also makes it pretty stark the gap that we'd have to bridge on the field if we were ever to get back into SL (even though that prospect is unlikely with the ground being how it is). Can't see the club going fully pro unless the ground was fixed up and we attracted significantly more funding. In the meantime we must continue to aim to be the best of the rest.

I think there's a very real possibility that next year, every team in the championship will have no real (mathematical) chance of gaining promotion, regardless of where they finish in the league. Very hard to stay motivated if that comes to pass.

The cynic in me suspects that was the plan all along. The only way it would potentially change would be for a new owner with money to burn who could afford to address certain areas that would earn more IMG points. That, and an existing SL team to really hit the skids.

Once this eventuality becomes the norm that will mean some really dull games between the lower teams in SL with no jeopardy whatsoever. The public are gonna be going crazy for Cas vs Hull the grounds will be packed out. The drama of who finishes 11th!

Oh the green eyed jealousy :SUBMISSION:

You honestly think Bradford fans have had it rough, give me a break, try being a Trinity fan for the past 40 years, then you'd know real heartache!

Yes it's a bit Mickey mouse as trophies go, but in our case its hopefully just a bit of a taster of things to come, not sure you can say the same.
