Think Burton needs a long run of games to get some experience and confidence. After he lost the ball in contact that led to a try he clearly struggled - perhaps we can loan him out to a L1 side?
The misunderstanding between Kear and DFJ showed that he's not decisive enough to be a fullback. In those situations it should be the first instinct to call for the ball and go toward it and catch it. Standing around in silence and letting it bounce a couple of metres away is the opposite of what you should do.
Hall is hopefully the player we need at fullback or we could be wishing we'd kept Pickersgill who for all his one on one defensive mistakes could catch a high ball and run the ball out of defence effectively.
TBF I don't think by the sound of things we had much of a choice whether we kept him or not. Fev are arguably paying out more than he is worth based on his attacking play, but then again his defensive frailties will not be as exposed as they were at Bradford so maybe he will prove to be good value in the end.
I'm more than a little concerned with out Full Back options. Hall whilst no doubt has potential, couldn't make the starting Batley side and did most of his good work off the bench or on the wing.
Burton has been poor when I've seen him given a shot and really we should be seeing some signs of improvement. Obviously Kear must like him to keep giving him a place but he's blow decent chances at both wing and full back and just looks to lack confidence when in the first team.
I really hope there is some truth in the rumour of Shaul coming in on duel reg as he would be a very good player at Championship level.
