I know Menzies has been named at stand off for the past two games but he actually lines up at right centre. It seems to work ok, and he's seems better in defence than Sykes who I'd leave at stand off.

Going on Solomona's performance at Wakey he'd have to train very well this week to get in the 17.

We have violent agreement there.

IMO its as good a time as any to bring in Whitehead or Olbison for a debut.

Or indeed both. You can't have too many second rows in a side.

Does Platt/can Platt play centre? Has he ever?

don't think he's ever been tried there for a full game. He's relatively decent attack wise with a bit of pace and any of his trademarks at Centre will usually be further down field and we'll have a chance to recover. pair him with semi and menzies with sheriffe so we have at least one strong defensive player at each side. Problem with fullback is any mistakes usually lead to a try so its a position where any defensive errors have a bigger impact than normal. Given the players available our only other options, without using platt, are cook/langley at Centre neither of whom have ever impressed me there or move semi to Centre, halley to wing and hyde to FB which strikes me as too much disruption on a short turnaround.

surely he wont get a starting spot this week based on monday, clearly not match fit. Bench spot at best and bring him on in late stages when he might be able to take advantage of a tiring opposition.

Cook was originally a centre wasn't he?

Think he has to be in in order to get some match fitness, but from the bench as an impact player agreed.
He has the ability to turn the game. If he doesn't drop the ball that is...

yep but bulked up a bit since then. always looked more at home in 2nd row imo. has covered Centre in past for us during games so is an option.

Why on earth do people have this obsession of wanting to see Michael Platt play centre? I just can't see the benefit. Same with Tame when he was here as well. Hasn't that Hyde lad played a bit of halfback? Didn't he get selected for England as a 6? Personally for this weeks game I would go with this line up.

Halley. Sheriffe. Sykes. Menzies. Tadulala. Solomona. Jeffries. Kopczak. Newton. Lynch. Cook. Burgess. Langley. Subs. Worrincy. Scruton. Whitehead. Platt.
