Burgess, like Koppa and others are victims of the current malaise affecting the Club caused by signings in the last 4 years that have not turned out well for the Club. That is not the fault of the current Head Coach or the C/man. What could be construed as fault is their persistence with players who have no pride in pulling on a Bulls shirt. Brave decisions have to be made which would probably see us in a worse position than we are in now. A clearout is needed, we must begin a future plan to bring us to a position to challenge for honours, a plan that will probably leave us, in the short term floundering in the bottom reaches of SL for a season or two "a la Wigan". but the Head Honcho's at Odsal seem to be scared of the reaction of the fans to such a radical approach but we must do it before relegation again becomes an issue. A plan needs to be formulated by the leadership and a meeting with the players and fans for backing and let the 'success now or else brigade' wallow in their bile.
Keep Macca, sack the jury!

Hit the nail on the head, couldn't believe how much he's bulked up. Definately more a prop now than a SR.

Dosn't wanna play at Shodsil anymore. Looks as though he is another step nearer to joining us at Headingley 8)

Not sure there is anything `going on` with Sam. Like many young players who have a big `breakthrough` year you then get the `second year syndrome`.

He`s definitely bulked up but he`s still a youngster and is probably finding the extra weight (muscle, admittedly) hard to carry. We used to talk about kids `growing into their bodies`, I guess that`s what Sam`s going through at the moment.

He`s a quality rugby player though and I`m sure he`ll come back to the fore. Incidentally I don`t find anything wrong in playing him in different positions; we don`t know yet what his most effective position will be (probably he doesn`t yet know himself) and there is nothing to lose and plenty top gain in obtaining the experience of playing in different positions in the pack.

Sam is definitely significantly below his best form, but I don't think there's anything wrong with him, the problem is he is part of a team which most of the time is well below par and on too many occasions performs as abysmally as last night, it is exceptionally difficult to look good in a team which is getting whupped and constantly on the back foot.

When he gets the ball you can see a look of confusion on his face and a moment of hesitation. I'm sure he's thinking along the lines "Am I playing prop and should be making hard yards, or am I playing LF and should be running wide?" He ends up doing neither.

I can't explain the transformation in Fielden, but no, not at all. Burgess has an outstanding career ahead of him, of that I've no doubt.
