How did Deacs go this week?

Disappointing again unfortunately. His in game kicking was pretty woeful and actually put US under pressure a few times. I don't like to bag him too much because he has been a great servant to the club, but we need him to sort himself out soon. Once Godwin is back I can see him being replaced with Rinaldi who looked good again today.

If he keeps up his form form the last two games.. it wont be long until he wins me over for a longer contract.

when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.

I thought he was a lot better.

He tackled well in the first half which normally seems to go unnoticed but is important in the middle of the field.

Last week he got a bad knock in the ribs which nearly finished him for the game - I found that out early in the week but didn't want to leak the info to our opposition before the game!!!

He managed to make a bigger impact this week but as ever it's his mistakes which get the headlines. He made a couple in the second half and is not back at his best as yet.

Was it his long sweet kick which got our second try in the first half? I was looking the other way so didn't see. If it was his then it was enough in its self to earn his pay for the week.

It was our defence where the biggest difference was made. We need to kick on and make it even better for the next couple of weeks at least.

If we have ANY ambition in the play-offs we have to get at least one result from the next two games.

Well we needed improvement from the Wakefield win and they did just that. Our defence was rock solid for long periods and Wire had little success in breaking us down. Both wingers swallowed some towering kicks to the corner and made plenty of yards for the side.

However the most pleasing aspect for me was how well we performed as a TEAM. They worked hard for one another and the effort was there for all to see. If we can continue in the same vein then we should have little to fear against Saints and Leeds. We just need to continue to reduce the amount of errors we're making. But we're heading in the right direction.

Well done.

McNamara's job is not in question.
Only idiots really believe it is.

Keep discussion in one spot. Anything on there you want to comment on, copy and paste it here.

That said, seeing as we won which always kills this board dead, maybe I've been a bit officious. ;)

No, I'm almost certain it was Jeffries. Well if you're talking about the Nero try anyway! But we only scored 1 try in the first half.

Chris Nero ran on to Ben Jefferies' kick and avoided two tackles to score

DG before half-time is an interesting ploy. Did it seem spur-of-the-moment?

The hooter had sounded and we kept the ball alive for Deacon to slot one over.

"I think the time when we played at Odsal we were in a bit of a flat spot and they were probably in a similar type of situation today themselves," said McNamara, whose side went down 58-22 earlier in the season.

"They've had a tremendous run in the league and the cup which went to extra-time and at some stage it catches up with you.

"But right from the start we were on the upper hand today and thankfully we pushed it on."

...

"They kick the ball really well and have players in the side who can test you with kicks but fortunately for us Lee Briers suffered an injury.

"It restricted them slightly but our back three caught most of the balls on the full, retained very well and got us on the front foot at the start of some of our sets."
