FFS It's only the 5th, the majority of the country haven't been paid this month. Doesn't mean a thing

They did state that two players had been paid a day late, for goodness sake give them a chance. If we played all local boys we would lose by 100+ every week. Only last week two local lads played against Saints , and played well. The coach has stated if injuries continue we will play only local talent, give them time the talent is developing.

Perhaps I'm being a bit cynical, but I tend to fall into "no smoke without fire" mode on stuff like this.

We've seen it before.

1) Do the RFL have enough money to help?
2) If they did help, does it not show the whole franchise process up as a farce? If a club presents itself as a viable SL outfit then proves not to be, shouldn't they be penalised or left out to dry?

Or we finally admitting that the franchise process is a charade?

What would be the difference between helping an "expansion" club to keep in business and helping fund a player so they stay in League and not go to union? Both about keeping league strong. They were willing and able to do one, why not the other?

But yes, I see your point, how would the other clubs feel if Celtic got financial help and noone else did.

I didn't agree with them funding players salarys.

Nor did I.

In fact the more I think about it, why should the RFL bail any club out? There is other, more financially secure clubs who could step up. It would not be fair on them.

Yeah because expanding RL by 3 or 4 teams over 114 years is REALLY playing with fire isn't it?


The only danger RL faces is by sticking with the same old 'we've given it 15 minutes, it's clearly not working' routine. If RL doesn't pull it's finger out, it will be back to a part time game. That won't be an end for me, I'm lucky enough to live within range, but it will be a crying shame for the game and all those unlucky enough to never get to know about RL.
