Guaranteed funding so far = Council £15, Yorkshire Forward £4.1m and English Netball £0.2m = £19.3m

Possible other funding considered :

Contribution from the Bradford Bulls (secured against existing stadiumassets) - £2m

Prudential borrowing costs met through reductions in overheads for
combined more efficient facilities (£200k pa) - £2.8m

Prudential borrowing costs met through rental income from partners
occupying space within the sports village (£50k pa) - £0.7m

Receipt for disposal of RDSC site once community sports facilities are transferred to the sports village - £6.5m

Prudential borrowing funded from corporate sponsorship and naming
rights for stadium or stadium facilities - £?m

Ground rent (or purchase of a long leasehold interest) for commercial development of a hotel and, or sports related retail - £?m

The Council have also considered borrowing money up to tune of £3.5m a year in interest payments to facilitate the compliant scheme !!

Not as dead as some people would believe ......

hmm looking at that the funding gap (19.5m + projected 12m from other sources + unknown amounts from stadium sponsorship and hotel site ,whilst still considerable for the 75m scheme, is pretty small for the smaller schemes, which put a roof on and retain the iconic bowl. Certainly seems a lot more positive than spin T&A put on story on tuesday. Anyone else notice how, despite it being there headline story, splashed on billboards across the town on tuesday, they've chosen to not report the combined bulls/council statement yesterday and only reference in todays paper is selected comments from their website from City fans. And how they seem to print big articles from city supporters trust pretty frequently pushing a move to VP. Seems like a bit of an agenda there to me and not exactly unbiased reporting.

Indeed, I too increasingly sense a strong agenda - to coerce the Bulls out of Odsal and to VP, so City can stay at VP - at work.

2001/2 redux.

And I increasingly doubt the council - the officers that is, not the elected members ( what a good description that is) are anything like the villain of the piece being painted. Possibly far from it.

I think if you could recoup the costs from

a) Odsal feasability studies

and

b) the city of culture bid

and

c) westgate

You could have built Bulls a 25,000 seater stadium and the Cougars a 10,000 seater.

How much money have they peed away?

The cost of a team of construction consultants is usually about 10-15% of the overall budget, that's taking a job from inception to completion. A feasibility, I would expect to be less than 1% of budget. So it depends how many feasibilities & at what value. I doubt it is near the cost of a decent scheme but still a massive waste of resources.

Hood really isnt helping us with todays piece in paper. H'es still pushing for 75m scheme when its clearly not going to happen. Better to meet halfway and get affordable scheme agreed, which I suspect majority of supporters would prefer anyway as it includes standing and keeps character of stadium, than keep pushing for a scheme thats unrealsistic in current economic climate imo. Only problem I see with cheaper schemes is we'd be keeping some of the expensive infrastructure which is costing a lot to maintain but it isnt clear to what extent so this may not be a problem.

Looking at the cheaper options against an improvement in facilities which might bring in higher crowds and the increased revenue might make the ongoing maintenance costs less of a burden. Lots of mights there which worry me.
I don't think even with the full OSV scheme any decision had been made/announced to make the stadium all seater and that particular nugget came out of discussions of the rules regarding the premier league and any potential sharing with BCFC. Hmmm.

That's not true. The decision with the £75m scheme was that it was an 18,000 ALL seater stadium period.

After reading that, you've got to admrie the positivity. And to be fair to him, he's got to be seen to push this scheme.

So basically we are left with a cheaper scheme or if we can find a private developer, the original scheme.
