Was admin before or after license decision? If before you could argue that it was as bad a time as relegation is this year and I'd agree

Do you really not remember? It was before, and pretty much everyone in the league expected Wakefield not to have their licence renewed as punishment for going into admin.
But then on the day of the announcement the whole business with Crusaders came to light, they never even bothered applying for a licence so they were straight out - wakey survived by default.

That was also the same time that Keith Senior went apoplectic on twitter after earlier signing for the Crusaders.

I remembered Wakefield expecting to go and getting reprieved, but couldn't remember if before or after license, thanks for clarifying. So 2 teams gone into admin after the license, one got punished once, the other 3 times!

Re: The two administrators : Sat Mar 01, 2014 8:12 pm
Well it's not quite that straightforward. You need to remember that the RFL lent us £700,000 on the sly without telling the other clubs.
We then failed to make a single repayment over the course of the next 12 months (I think).
So then Peter Hood had his brainwave to sell the lease to Odsal to the RFL, and they proceeded to make up some BS story about predators trying to buy Odsal to cover it all up.

We were punished for this debacle in addition to admin. Some people on here conveniently leave this part out in their complaints over our treatment.

What I still don't get is that the administrator has a legal responsibility to get the best deal for the creditors, surely by not sanctioning the deal with BB2014, the RFL are asking Wilson to not meet his obligations? Can anyone explain that to me?

This is one of the crucial questions that needs an answer. However I doubt that any journalist will risk their relationship with Red Hall by asking for a clear response.
As you say, Wilson has legal and professional responsibilities . He has to examine the bids and satisfy himself not only which is best but whether it is feasible. In this case , of the 2 on the table he chose the 2014. If there were as many holes in that bid as Rimmer and Solly have claimed, he had the option of rejecting the 2014 bid- it wasn't one or the other. Hark back to the first administration when Guilfoyle effectively did just that and extended the time limit.
It's not unreasonable to suspect that the administrator is not enamoured by the RFL rejection and that his actions in the past few days could have been guided by that. Obviously that'd only a theory but there will be an abundance of hypotheses until a clear statement is made. And that statement should IMO be made by Wood , the strangely quiet CEO.

Just read Nothus' comment. You are Absolutely right but the tragedy is that NONE of the individuals who made that secret deal on behalf of the RFL have been penalised. And the individual who brokered it on behalf of the Bulls is long gone. The playing, coaching and admin staff are the main sufferers.

Re: The two administrators : Sat Mar 01, 2014 8:32 pm
Where has this 'rfl didn't sanction the takeover' come from?
All parties who made bids for the club passed the rfl's fit and proper persons test. That is as far the rfl's involvement goes.

Mark Moore and co withdrew their offer to buy the club, it wasn't a case of the rfl blocking it.

They just threw the toys out of the pram when the points deduction was announced. Whether they were justified in doing that or not is open to debate.

It does frustrate me a little that the administrator is getting so much flak. He's not interested in running a successful business, he just wants to recoup money for his creditors. It's not his fault that this company has landed back on his doorstep, a week after he thought he had completed his job.

If Moore and co took their punishment, the only discussion we would be having would be if we could avoid the drop with the players we had at our disposal. From a personal point of view, I actually thought we could have done it.

4 days later, we're now asking if we could avoid the drop, now without our best forward, a company that has no owner, and a squad of players that don't know where their next pay is coming from. I'm a little miffed that the owners decided to throw a tantrum, even if we did get relegated, it would have been nice to know that these guys were in it for the long run. Looking back, i'm quite glad that we realised now that these individuals couldn't stick at it when the going got tough. Lets have an owner that will stick with us through the good and the bad.

OK passed the F&PP test which he needed to do to get his foot through the door of the administrator. BG then sells the club to OK Bulls Ltd. That happened at the end of August in 2012.

Transfer of the license to OK Bulls Ltd happened a little over a week later following ratification of the takeover.

Presumably that second stage was still to come this time round too. It could easily be that the RFL were about to put the brakes on prior to dummies being spat out of the pram.

Fair enough, but we never even got that far this time because MM never gave them a chance.
