In what sense? Had we had a 12 point deduction in 2016, it would only have meant that Bradford finished 6th instead of 5th, and still 11 points clear of Whitehaven who finished 9th.

The only way we'd be fighting relegation is if the performance on the pitch was significantly worse than the season just gone.

I think it would be easier to sell it to the fans as a backs to the wall battle against relegation, rather than a drab battle to finish 6th. Why would anyone turn up to watch that?

Might be easier to sell to fans by painting it like that, but anyone with basic maths skills or a calculator, and the ability to look up last year's league table, could realise it still shouldn't be anything like.

They'd be better off selling it as "If Leigh had lost 12 points last season, they'd have still made the top 4 and still been promoted. With improvement under our new innovative coach, we can still do it this season".

As much as the pessimistic among us won't believe it can happen, Top 4 is actually more believable than relegation IMO.

I can't see there been enough money in the bank to pay the staff again, if they was why didn't Green pay off the HMRC?

Not at all. It depends much more on how good a team you can field. Leigh for example with a 12 point deduction in 2016 would still have been runners-up. Not battling relegation!

Which former player was compensated out under green? Only possibility I can think of is lovegrove but surely he retired and insurance paid him out?

Danny Sculthorpe? Didn't he get compensated recently for being released in 2010 with no help towards his cronic back problems and injury? Could be him owed money?
