That said, I think we are collectively a bit harsh about our propensity to latch on to any rumour. It’s a very human trait. As fans who care incredibly deeply we want to cling to any information, irrespective of whether the rational part of our mind tells us it’s horseshit. It’s because we care. A lot.

Correct, although there is the potential issue of insurance and there not being a policy available if the club suddenly goes bust.
