My source is very real. Yesterday he was watching some Americans or something he's involved with play Brighouse Rangers. I met him and his friend who used to have something to do with Leigh I think in the wyke lion after.

Anyway he told me that due to some quirk in the rules if the Bulls fold Hull KR would still have to kick off at summer bash to be awarded the points. Like when Scotland played Estonia or whatever it was in that World Cup qualifier. Imagine it a half full stadium of KR fans watch one team come out on the pitch. The hooter goes - they kick off and the ball is not brought back. Under RL rules, however, they have to keep playing until someone scores a point. KR regather, kick the goal and they are awarded a 1-0 win. Unless they kick it out then there isn't anyone to tap it on the 20metre line and they'll be there all night.

Imagine the coverage in the press, tv news might actually mention the sport, you tube hits, tweets etc etc. The sport desperately needs a boost in this area and Nigel knows it. There can only be one explanation!

To be serious though, to the best of my knowledge, and from the mouth of former chairman Hood when we were told about the sale of the lease, the responsibility for ground maintenance and improvements remains entirely with the club and not with the primary lettee [RFL] nor he landlord [Bfd Met]. So, my reading of that fact means the club already has the right [even responsibility?], enshrined in the lease agreement to build on the land and to improve the stadium. If this means allowing parts of the stadium grounds to be used for other purposes, and if this is the enabling factor for improvements, then I don't really see the RFL's ownership of the primary lease to be an impediment to that being done. Indeed, it would be perverse if either party objected in a matter which is contractually delegated to the club.

Why would we risk a drop goal?

Can't see any way the RFL would engineer a situation where the Bulls aren't playing.

A 12 point drop I can believe [am expecting, in truth], maybe even a hefty fine to go with it, but they'll surely want the club to play on in some guise to pay their rent. Their big problem is that if they demote us to champ 1, then that pretty much rules out us out of playing at Odsal due to the inevitable loss of players and subsequently fans, and of course, the cost. If we're demoted, then Horsfall with Avenue is a more likely venue, and more importantly a ground where we may even scrape through a season without going bust again.

There is a good point made in there somewhere, I had not even considered the consequences of us being dropped from the championship. Who would take our place? With 2 months to go before the start of the season, would that even be possible?

I did read somewhere that Whitehaven had been given the nod that their relegation last year might not be enacted if we failed to make the starting gate. Don't know the veracity of that, of course...though I'm sure someone will...

Didn't miss the point at all. If there was an open field, you'd go for the try. No passing, no kicking, just to be on the safe side. But you asking why you'd risk a drop goal, and the response was rather amusing.
