Indeed.
I don't know if we could get Rinaldi and someone else into the squad though.

Tupou out and Bird not signed = Rinaldi in? Surely not.

The problem is finding someone available at this point, and then them wanting to come here.

And Peter Hood said, at the start of the year, that we had cap space available should someone be available. From that and the outgoing Toupu we must have space for at least 2 players. Rinaldi's deal being only short term means we are flexible so if better options become available we don't retain him beyond the 2 months but I'd be ok with extending his deal to the end of the season pending a fuller review of the squad.

Making any major singing now has risks as anyone available is normally damaged goods in some way or not deemed worthy at their current club and for every Hendo that works out there's a Tupou who doesn't.

That's always the problem mid season

Is Tupou's salary not paid to him then under this ruling?

Indeed, that's a point I made when others were coming out with the "we are saving money for a mid-season signing if we need it".

Unless you've got money for a transfer fee, or an eye for some decent talent languishing in a NRL reserve grade, you are probably left looking at a drunk, wife-beater or some other deviant.

I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

or you take a risk that someone playing at a lower level can step up but they are all risky signings.

Ben Harris didn't fit in to any of those.

Can't remember the exact circumstances (homesick girlfriend?) but the few exceptions usually prove the rules!
