OK back home and warmed up now
Pretty much as other have added, we were rusty and a bit sterile in the first half, and got better as the game went on. Fitness clearly told, but it was more than that, it was about things starting to 'click' between the parts of the team.
In Kyle Briggs we look to have what we did not have last season i.e someone who just looks like No6 is his natural position. Once he gets used to Super League, I think he'll be a real star. Leon who?
Cain Southernwood looks to have muscled up over the winter - it was clearly noticeable when the young lad (I think he was called Windley) came on. It was like looking at a man and a boy, when the stood side by side. Herbery is obviously going to be our starting scrum half, but I'd be quite happy to have Briggs and Southernwood as a back up option if Herbert gets injured.
I agree that Sykes is going to struggle to make the 17 on todays showing
Diskin only played 20 minutes but he looked like he could provide some real spark at acting half back. But am I the only person who is going to take a while to get used to cheering on Diskin
All round, it was very promising - albeit with the caveat that it was against lower league opposition
