IIRC the lease is actually quite specific that bradford bulls have to play majority of there home games at odsal until 2019. thats to satisfy the terms of the odsal settlement. Pretty certain theres also a covenant on the 100yr lease stating it has to be used for playing too.

Yeah, I know the RFL can be a little awkward but to say that Odsal needs to be saved for the posterity of rugby league, and then use it for administration a bit or a push even for them.

Plenty of room for desks though....

Don't get me wrong, I would love the hole in the ground to be developed and if the RFL made it the new Red Hall that would be ace.

I can see some sort of protective clause being added by the RFL.Possibly a three year clause.That should be honorable by the bidder to be honest if their intentions are amicable.

Land prices haven't changed much in the last 4years. The council own the land.

The problem for the RFL is that they paid £1.25m for the lease which has a £70k pa return, as long as there is a tenant!

If they hold out for more than about £1.5m, then that means they deliberately ripped off one of their member clubs 5 years ago, who were financially distressed at the time, taking advantage of them. Which morally undermines them as an organisation.

Let's not forget the players and staff caught up in these games. The RFL have a duty of care towards them also and nobody wants to see players and staff out of a job if the worst happened.

I don't believe the RFL would genuinely want to see Bradford Bulls cease to exist but I'm less confident that their incompetence might well play a part in our eventual demise.

Indeed, their lease is worth Zilch without a Bradford rugby team team [to abide by the terms of their lease] playing there.

It might be interesting to get a solicitor's opinion on whether the RFL [as primary leaseholders] would be responsible to pay back the money to the council, if the team don't/aren't able, due to RFL actions, to play their games at Odsal.

Yes, I know, we'd also need the contracts for said legal eagle to peruse...
