I'd take Thorman over Deacon. I'd also take him as an extra to Jeffries to create competition in our halves.

If he was coming in as a straight replacement for Jeffries though without any other halves coming, I'd be somewhat disappointed.

Thorman may not be that good these days, but having 3 half backs of ANY kind is better than only having 2 that are guaranteed to get picked week in, week out.

When you're a Bradford fan there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately it's usually an oncoming train

That article is full of stupid statements

Steve McNamara wrote:
“2007 was actually the year everyone expected us to miss the play-offs. We then finished third and – if not for Millennium Magic and salary cap point deductions – it would have been second. That all raised expectations for this year.”

No. What raised expectations is that, at that point, we were still the 2nd most successful side in SL. We're a team that should be fighting for championships, not scraping at the bottom of the table.

Give how things are and that it can take some sides a year to get up to speed in SL (Castleford, Catalands, HKR are what I'm using as examples here) i fear that next year, if there are serious changes at the club. We'll be 14th

Bradford gave us Hockney, Leeds gave us Moyles.

We're a team that very nearly got relegated within less than twenty years ago. A team that went out of existence in front of three hundred people less than fifty years ago. If you're going to appeal to the annals of history, at least try to leaf through a fair spread of the pages.

Chris Thorman to be a Bulls player next season

I do think that back in March (or whenever it was) he put in probably the single best half back performance we've seen at Odsal this year. I'd have signed him on the spot then.

If we were to sign as a 3rd half / utility then good. Otherwise bad.

I don't see any great improvement by bringing in Thorman to be honest. We have enough poor defenders as it is without recruiting another one. He's another inconsistent type who can play a blinder one week but be shocking the next. I'd like to think we could at least bring in one creative play with some proven quality at the highest level.

Deacon certainly isn't inconsistent.

I agree there are better out there. However if it's a choice between just two half backs at the club, or two half backs + Thorman, I'd take the latter option. We've had two seasons recently with only two recognised half backs, and all we've seen from it is at least one of them in very poor form and still getting picked every week no matter what.

Competition helps, even if it's mediocre.
