| Given our pack is still a bit light I'd see Caro as a useful player to help out with those tough carries from the wing even if he is a bit of a wet lettuce taking the ball up sometimes.

| I think Caro actually makes decent yards after the collision. The lack of data gathered from champ games continues to frustrate me so unfortunately we can't really back our opinions up with any solid data. It's funny how some people think the exact opposite though.
We don't make the most of his height anywhere near enough. Attacking kicks to his wing were few and far between last season. He also seems to be terrified of the touchline, which is not an ideal trait for a winger to have.
Still, I'd give the starting wing spots to Ryan and Caro at this moment in time. If Macani wants a run out he has to earn it.

| I get the feeling Clare is first choice winger and Smith sees his centres as Welham and Foster.

Think Ryan's progress and Macani being signed probably means someone is on their way eventually from our wingers. I'd say probably Campbell or Caro by the sound of it.'"
There's also Ross Oakes to throw into that mix. Perhaps he's seen more as a Centre, but still...
I agree either, on maybe even both, of Caro and Campbell would seem surplus to requirements. It does make it puzzling why Caro was handed a new contract soon after Rohan arrived. Perhaps Mr Ferres can be blamed for that (and why not )

| I understand Caro's downside but I can't help but like him. He can be quite light on his feet for a big bloke and has taken defenders out with a step more than once and, I suppose he's got to be, considering his height, but he's good in the air too - and we've lost out to opponents in that department far too often for my liking. He's also a bit quick and you can't coach that.

| Clare
Foster
Welham
Ryan
I think this will be the first choice backline . Both Smith and Foster him self have said they see him as a centre.
A few options as back up
Caro
Campbel
Macani
Ricket
Oakes
Mellor (much prefer him in the second row though)
Mendeika (at a push. Wonder if he will get a game this year!!!)

I would imagine they are hoping to either offload him, or at least push him out on loan somewhere

Agreed. think there is him Oscar and Campbell that clearly arent rated and to keep all 3 doesnt make sense. Guess there is just the small matter of their contracts to consider! Cant blame the lads for wanting to stay
Again lets blame Ferres!

| Friendly at Batley in Jan should give us an idea how our season will go.

I know what they have tried to do to Campbell. It's not his fault. But I do think they should give him a chance. He broke his leg before his time at Bradford and hasn't been same since. He was very good at Batley.

| To be honest I think Caro is a bit of a simpleton, which affects his ability to be positionally aware in defense. Teams run rings around him quite often. I think Clare is our best winger by a country mile, and Ethan has come on so much in the second half of last season that it would be difficult to overlook him. Maybe Caro's height may count for him, if ever Rohan wants to go aerial in a game. Also, aro does have pace to burn, but he rarely shows it, and rarely backs himself again defending wingers when he decides to apply the afterburners. I think his mentality holds him back.
Summary - Clare and Ethan first choice wingers for me any day of the week. Caro very good backup at this level and has qualities we could use. Campbell is only at the Bulls cos he played well against us in the 2015 season - that was Jimmy/Ferres's signings policy, the way I see it.

| Clare and Ryan first choice for me too. Ryan and Welham looked a very good partnership towards the end of the year.
Caro and Macani very good second choices and competition for places.
I agree about Campbell. I just don't see where he fits in at all. Same goes for Mendeika. There was talk of a couple of dual reg situations with lower league clubs in the T&A this week. If they get sorted you would think that Campbell/Mendeika/Thomas/Halafihi will spend most of their time away unless a serious injury crisis hits.
