I think we'll notice a big difference with Glenn Hall. He runs hard as hell, and when he does get tackled he generally wins the collision, and gets a very quick play the ball. This year we don't seem to have that. It seems like we struggle to get a roll on.
I don't he's a plodder.
Like you say though, we doi struggle to get on a roll, but that's because we don't have those two extra props to come on and prove destructive, like Baloo and Fielden in years gone by. These two are big fellas with a bit of pace, and there hard to defend. We lack destruction and impact and I can't see a plodder changing that to be honest.
strange that theres no mention of this rumour anywhere on cas board. Thing to remember with sykes is he qualifies as home grown which is going to be increasingly important next couple of years until academy lads break through in numbers. reasonably happy with sykes as he covers a few positions to a decent standard and is pretty good in attack. Also gives us another kicking option. Really does need to improve defensively though.
interesting that kirk dixon is out of contract at cas though and homegrown criteria apart could be said to tick the same boxes as sykes but with better defense.
just putting two and two together and coming up with 5
sykes and dixon both out of contract and with rumors in cas of them signing sykes, given they already have shenton for other Centre berth, dixon could be redundant/wanting too much money. he seems to be playing well this year and would also fill backup kicker role that sykes has.
Cant see anything happening to be honest as dont thinks theres much to choose between dixon and sykes and both are more valuable to their current clubs as they count as homegrown.

He's crap though mate. We shouldn't go there, not even as back up.
Dear me - we are opening up the history books now!
Only when necessary to confound the ignorant, though how you could answer the question of what big signings we have made, without refering to the big signings we have made, is a tad puzzling. Obviously not to you but still.
Of those listed, last time I looked, Newton, Morrison and Menzies were still with us. And you can add Hall on for next year now as well.
Really? I cant see it. In fact he rarley breaks the line. Granted, he's in better form than last season, which doesn't take a lot of beating if we are honest, but he's not all that good of a centre. He's a decent centre at best in my books. He's to heavy footed, rarley beats a man for pace and has limited evasions skills, he really struggles to get on the outside of his opponent and draw their winger in, leaving ours free. However, he hits very hard and is very strong, I see his game more suited to second row personally.
Shame on you Terry Monster, for shame.
Nero is a one man legion. Then again I always preferred him at centre too, last year Macca used him poorly all over the field and playing him when injured. This year Macca has learned not to mess about the players too much although I fear he is taking this too far with Deacs

I assumed that you were dealing with the present and most recent signings. It appears I was not the only one.

stats suggest theres not much to choose between them. sykes attempts more tackles but misses roughly 20% whereas dixon only misses about 10%. If sykes could improve his defense I'd be quite happy to retain him on this years performances unless someone who's obviously in a different class becomes available.
imo we need to take a look at defense down sykes/sheriffe wing as defensively they are both very week and this is being exploited on a regular basis. Pretty certain coaches have recognised this, would explain menzies remaining there at weekend even when sykes was fit.
