We dont have to worry about Saints at all, we've beaten them once at their ground when they were in good form, so there is no reason why we cannot beat them at our home ground when we are starting to find some form.

This seems an odd statement, unless you have a crystal ball for the remaining fixtures?

The second point you make it more pertinent IMO

I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

I'm just going from this which you didn't comment on.

My guess has been that a 50/50 record should be enough for a play-off berth, and given that Wakey have one and are in sixth spot, that seems to be reasonable.

So to achieve that, we need eight wins from our final thirteen games. Are they going to come? And where?

Warrington a W
St. Helens h
Leeds a
Castleford h
Hull KR a
Wigan h
Celtic a
Harlequins h
Harlequins a
Huddersfield a
Catalans h
Salford h
Hull FC a

Nothing unwinnable or unloseable there...

A mis understanding on my part then. I thought it was just a random statement. My apologies.

However, I think it's pretty difficult to put a figure on the number od wins we need to make the playoffs. We may have to only win [insert a number between 2-11] more games!!

when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.

IMO too

If we can't beat people like Leeds and Saints then there's not really any point in being in the play-offs in the first place.

Right bear with me here, with my positive head on I've been looking at the fixtures for this weekend and I spotted something interesting (? well maybe not that intertesting but tough). The position today in the bottom half of the league;

7th Wigan.....17pld 14 pts
8th Hull........16pld 14 pts
9th Wire.......16pld 14 pts
10th Cas.......16pld 14 pts
11th Bulls......15pld 13 pts
12th Catalan..15pld 12 pts

The following are the fixtures this week, in the order played importantly, and my guess at the results with the winners in bold; (no wigan game)

Fri
Hud V Cas
Hull V Salford
Sat
Catalan V Wire
Celtic V HKR
Quins V Leeds
Sun
Bulls V Saints ?

If the results went that way on Friday and Saturday, and the reason I mention all this is that none would be shocks IMHO, we would start our game, the only game on the Sunday, knowing that a win against saints would put us 8th! That should be a huge motivation for the lads and crowd alike;

7th Hull.........17pld 16 pts
8th Bulls.......16pld 15 pts
9th Wigan.....17pld 14 pts
10th Catalan..16pld 14 pts
11th Wire.......17pld 14 pts
12th Cas........17pld 14 pts

If Salford could snatch a win we'd even go to the dizzy heights of 7th! :D Only slight problem is St Helens  , but the point Im making is that before that game even kicks off there could be a huge incentive placed in front of our guys by the other results.

Bradford gave us Hockney, Leeds gave us Moyles.

There's a huge incentive every game. Which is why I'm so baffled by the Saints fan on the VT trying to argue that the play-offs reduce incentive to win regular rounds.

With the playoff system our game on Sunday is massive, without the playoffs we'd already be concentrating on next season and so it would only be important for Saints. The playoffs might be too big now, and there needs to be more definate rewards for higher placings like we used to have in my own view, but overall they definately add to the competition.

I haven't been excited as I am now all this season. Really looking forward to testing ourselves against the Saints on Sunday.

Me too. If we keep our defence solid and complete our sets we can easily win this one. The play-offs may be there begging for the lads on sunday, we've already proved we have the quality to beat saints, so lets do the double on them.
