I can think of several players who have been better signings than Menzies in terms of the impact made at their respective clubs:
Puletua Buderus Hodgson Chase
Puletua - looks good in a good team
Buderus - looks good in a good team
Hodgson - looks good behind a great defence
Chase - looks good with very good attacking players
Don't get me wrong i think all these players are having great seasons, and they are class players. I think Menzies although people might have thought hes to old, has proven most people wrong and is carrying the Bulls. Hes playing well with not much quality around him. I'd say hes been the better signing this season.
WOW, I can't believe people are seriously suggesting we sign Kirk Dixon. The lad is ordinary. Yes Sykes isn't the best player in the world, but he's a damn sight better than Kirk Dixon. We've got to have bigger aspiations in signing players, players like Dixon and Sykes don't really have the skills to trouble opposition IMO. We need a strike centre, or a centre than can make things happen for his winger.
I'd rather us go into the next season with Crookes.
I assumed that you were dealing with the present and most recent signings. It appears I was not the only one.
Still, never mind.
I am, you woodentop, and also trying to show these in the context of a long line of classy, in many cases illustrious, signings, to make the point that no-one should be surprised if Bradford sign a top player, as we have a long and distinguished record of doing so.
In my earlier post i stated that as far as i know, Newton, Morrison and Menzies are current players and are the most recent signings, and I also mentioned Hall, who is for next year but signed now.
I can't believe that I had to explain that, but comprehension isn't apparently your strong suit. Why do you have to try to be arsey and clever all the time? How many more top players - real top players - like Morrison, Menzies and Hall - would we have to sign for you to accept that we continue to be in the market for the top players? Do you really think we're not?

FA in resorting to insults shocker.
FWIW, Menzies, I accept, but if you are trying to say that Morrison and Hall are REAL TOP players, then it is no wonder I find it hard to take you seriously.

I couldn't give a flying fart if you "take me seriously"!
But usually you backtrack and sidetrack to crawl away from embarrassment, and claim you were talking about something else altogether, so let's start by making it clear what we were discussing. I said:-

I'd be disappointed if a club of Bradford's standing didn't keep going for top class signings. Mind you Menzies has set a high bar to beat, I said he'd be the best signing anybody made for 2009 and so he is.
Eurob0re asked who these top class signings were, and you echoed by asking:

I am not as stupid as him, could you try to educate me?
So I did. As I had made the point that I expected a club of our standing to "keep going" for top class signings, this (to the terminally uncomprehending) presupposes that we have a record of doing so, and based on that record I expect us to continue doing so.
That clear enough so far?
Presented with the evidence, you try to squirm out of your embarrassment by simply making some crack about "history books" - ignoring that 3 of those on the list are current players.
You then say you
mystic eddie wrote:

But this is just disingenuous crap, as first it implies I am not dealing with present and most recent signings - when I had in fact LISTED the present and most recent signings, as well as a long list going back to the 50s.
This alleged "assumption" of yours would not be so bad, if my list lost something by being restricted to "present and most recent signings" - but (apart from the fact that it would be out of context with my original post) it would not lose any such thing. Depending on how far back you want to add by way of "most recent" to "present", the list could, for example, be truncated to:
Lesley Vainikolo
Shontayne Hape
Joe Vagana
Terry Newton
Iestyn Harris
Glenn Morrison
Steve Menzies
Will these do for anyone for "present and most recent signings"? Are they "REAL TOP" enough for you?
Now you can try to ramp up your ludicrous case by trying to define your newly introduced phrase "REAL TOP" players (in fact I won't be surprised if you'll now want to to raise the bar to exclude anyone but Lockyer or equivalent) but Morrison and Hall would count as top class signings in any sensible person's book.
You get into an argument about semantics now if that's what you want, in your typical attempt to present yourself as having "won" your self-decreed "argument", but anyone who would claim that Morrison (over 200 NRL games scoring over 60 tries, selected for Country Origin in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005) or Hall (current NRL Grand Final winner, WCC winner) are outside the category of top class signings, must surely be on the wind-up.
You probably don't actually even know that for the second half of last season, Hall was mostly keeping Menzies on the bench? (Or is Menzies second rate too in your gaga opinion?)
But at least we now know what your personal bar is. Morrison and Hall are not top class signings in the weird and wacky world of mystic eddie. They are therefore second class signings. Riiiiight.
As on past form I expect you'll be far too embarrassed to attempt a reasoned response, I'll put your normal riposte in for you, to save you the bother:
I assumed that you were dealing with the present and most recent signings. It appears I was not the only one.

I agree, I thought he was talking about the top class signings like Micheal Platt, Ricki SHerrife, Paul Sykes, Chris Nero, Semi Tadulala, Ben Jeffries, Wayne Goodwin and Micheal Worrincy. You know, them top class signings
