I couldn't care less what you think of me, really I couldn't. I dont see what the problem is anyway, I haven't slagged any soldiers off, I only said I didn't applaud them yesterday and I wouldn't until I thought they were worthy of my applause and praise. Stop jumping to conclusions.

We are pulling out of Iraq and yesterday the President of Afghanistan called for the Taliban to be brought in to talks because military operations won't be sufficient to solve the problem (Sunday Times). Nor did we defeat the IRA militarily, instead former members are now in Govt in NI. I don't want you to have to go to Iraq or Afghanistan and risk your life to fight people we have previously armed and financed.

I respect you as a soldier and value the fact that you are willing to put your life on the line to protect the people of this country. I also understand you have to go where you are sent, but i would rather we valued you more than sending you in to war zones that are of our own making to do an impossible job and in Afghanistan a job in which every military force has previously failed.

Weren't the Yorkshire Regiment getting their service medals for their recent deployment in Kosovo anyway?

What's that got to do with Iraq?

The people I know who are opposed to what is happening in Iraq/Afghan do genuinely care what you do & what happens to you. Or are you suggesting we blindly support everything our government does in our name, irrespective of the consequences?

I don't think he was. I and those who applauded, and the vast majority in this country, were applaud our soldiers, who risk their lives in our armed forces. It has nothing - at all - to do with supporting/not supporting even one single thing that any government does. I'd have thought the distinction was crystal clear.

You clearly wanted to create an argument or you would have simply not bothered putting the above comment. All you are doing is attention seeking, i pity you Terry.

Just a few small points,
Soldier's are volunteer's, VOLUNTEER'S!
Without these BRAVE, HONOURABLE, COURAGEOUS, VOLUNTEER'S there would be a thing called NATIONAL SERVICE!!

I guess you know what national service means so i suppose they are doing you a HUGE favour, HUGE!! Whilst you sit at home watching TV in the comfort of your own home or supporting your team, remember you are sat there because of the freedom supplied by these VOLUNTEER'S.

I wonder what you'd be like on the front line, Digg'in, taking rounds, watching your best mates get blown up, picking limbs up from blown up bodies, been responsible for countless death's, getting shot, missing your kid's been born, missing you kids first step's/first words...... I guess you couldnt even imagine those things happenning to your life.......

They dont happen to you because of these VOLUNTEER'S!

They deserve respect...... Regardless of if you think this war is correct or not. I recently spent 5 years in the Army and think the War on Terror in Iraq + Afghan is a load of b*lls...... But i show respect where its due......
