There is always more than meets the eye though, I would be willing to be the RFL are offering an extraordinary increase in funding for next year, and possibly offering lower rent. Even it all comes to just one million that is still more budget than 90% of the teams in this division. The only players realistically available this time of year are the players you have just made redundant. They are also likely desperate for some money, so wouldn't be able to stand on principle about coming back. A few signing bonuses here and there to cover lost wages and all is well.
Next thing you know Oldham are relegated despite honouring every £ of debt they had and despite not signing an unsustainable squad such as Bradford have done.
This is the problem. We did have enough to meet our obligations before Green took over.
I've spoken to Calvert, they had steadied the ship, no debt, income/outgoings were balanced.
Then Green appeared as a complicating factor, and he was invited into the club by Whitcut.
Then 2years later, we're bust. And the owner is now being investigated for obtaining money by deception & false accounting.
If any criminality is proven, how is any of this the fault of the players, staff, fans or indeed, the RFL?
