Not the news we wanted when we are weeks away from the season starting. I assume this is a shock to the club and player as he was named in the starting 17 squad numbers on Tuesday. Health comes first. All the best to SS in his retirement.

Really bad news for the player and club, Its a shame as I thought he was one of our better players when fit last season but his health comes first.

A big shame as on his day he was great player. However, we signed him at a time where he really should have retired and despite hoping an operation would solve the issue, it was a long shot. Can't blame him for giving it a go though... you are a long time retired in this game.

Feel sorry for the lad but at least he isn't taking up any more wages which can now go towards someone who is going to play more than half a dozen games without breaking down.

Wallace would like a word! But Scott was bloody good for the 5 games he played. Gutted for him but health comes first and his interview was open and honest which was refreshing. Respect to him for not prolonging it when he could have.

Maybe this is why we back tracked on Wallace leaving as the club knew Scott might not make it.

So 2 players gave gone before the season has started. This should free up some cap space which isn't a bad thing. It is a shame as Scott was a decent line runner and played hard, but your body knows when enough is enough. I'd rather it happen now than a few months into the season.

We have Myers also and we might get Tindall too
