and anyone else deemed a decent player. This will then make the club a dam sight cheaper to buy and also to run. You could use academy lads and player loaned from other clubs as all clubs would muck in. Fair enough it would ruin your season but it's a small price to pay to start on the path back to stability. Guilfoyle should have done this weeks ago. Something stinks about this as if someone is pulling his strings trying to force this club to liquidation with the hope that the newco is a quick turnaround and that someone picks the club up for nothing with all the players still at the club.
I think you are overlooking a couple of salient points. The first being that the vast majority of clubs aren't looking for new players at this point as they are up to their cap (not to mention the transfer deadline has now gone by) also the most prized players are obviously the ones who are most likely to cause cap problems.
Secondly, whilst it may well make the club cheaper to run, going forward it reduces the options avbailable to any new owners and may cause problems if, for instance, the new owner intends gambling on retaining an SL position next season. It certainly wouldn't make the club more attractive to this buyer, nor would the fact that many fans probably wouldn't find the new set up very attractive to watch and this would impact on revenues.
Strangely, after putting forward the idea, you mention the most compelling reason why it won't work; ie if everything goes pear shaped they can have the players for a nothing at the end of the season.
