The positive regarding our current players is we have our 1,6,7,9 sorted from start of pre-season.

The club website gives this list

The likes of Liam Kirk, Sam Hallas and David Foggin-Johnston have all put pen-to-paper on fresh deals with the club in recent days and will all join the batch of players reporting to Tong on Tuesday.

A full pre-season schedule including friendlies will be released in the coming weeks - with Betfred Championship fixtures set to be released on November 17th.

Brandon Pickersgill, Joe Brown, Ross Oakes, Rhys Evans, David Foggin-Johnston, Jordan Lilley, Rowan Milnes, Steve Crossley, Sam Hallas, Liam Kirk, Evan Hodgson, Connor Farrell, Thomas Doyle, Keelan Foster, Alix Stephenson, Elliot Culling will all don the red, amber and black next term - with further arrivals expected across the coming weeks.

I make it 19 players. including Rowan Milnes on loan

Probably about 12 more than Leigh had at this stage last season

I don't understand this comparison with Leigh last year.

Despite it all, they have an (admittedly fickle) multimillionaire owner who can buy they players whenever he feels like it; whereas we have a bunch of people who are saying things the last 4 sets of owners have said that have landed us in special measures/relegation/administration.

He could only get players who were available. My point was that there’ll be plenty of players to sign, albeit we will probably be signing at a lower price point
