maybe someone can clear this one up as was talking to a amateur ref after game last night and he was unsure what correct decision was too.

Finnigan made a tackle and injured himself last night. play continued with him on the ground for a plsy or so until we knocked on and a scrum was called. the hudds formed the scrum then ganson called time off. he then noticed finnigan being treated in back play and didnt restart game till finnegan had been removed from pitch and substituted.

Later in the game deacon was injured in backplay and after a couple of plays a scrum was again called. again ganson called time off and waited till deacon was removed from pitch. We attempted to bring worrincy on as a substitute but ganson wouldnt allow it and forced us to take the scrum with only 12 players on the pitch.

The question is why was the finnegan substituion allowed but not the worrincy one? My understanding was that a substitution must be made at a suitable break in play, which as in both instances time off had been called, I would have thought this qualified.

Finnigan was actually hurt when taking the ball in. Two Bulls players had hold of him while another came in and banged him low(legally). A play or two later we knocked on and a scrum was called which is when play was stopped.

Ganson signalled time on when deacs was going off, worrincy wasnt on at the time and the 4th official wasnt given the interchange number in time.
4th official allows substitutions etc ganson probably got a call off of him.

I don't think it was that IMO Ganson thought we were making just a normal substitution at the scrum. He hadn't seen Deacon going off all he saw was Worrincy coming on in to the scrum which isn't allowed as you can't make changes at scrum.

All i could see from where i was down bottom end was ganson wave worrincy away and worrincy gave his interchange number to 4th official again,time was already called back on by then menzies then pulled out of scrum and went to stand at s/o spot so scrum was player short while worrincy was off.
And must have seen deacs going off cos he held claock and pointed at him.
