Which players are good enough to stay? : Tue Aug 04, 2009 2:07 pm
If you had a free hand to make some changes who are the players you would keep :?:

I would keep: Lynch, Burgess, Nero, Worrincy (work in progress), Tad, Halley, Langley and thats probably it apart from the youngsters. Any more?

What's your budget for their replacements? That has a big bearing, I'd say?

Add Beaver (1 year) and defo Scruton. Probably Wagga. We all know we need 6,7 and a quality centre and I'd say quality wing sorting urgently?

Forgot Beaver. Scruton and Wagga are OK too. I still think Sheriffe could turn out to be a good signing if confidence levels improve. Maybe instead of signing a new assistent we should send the players to a sports hypnotist - they could instill the missing confidence. Didn't Milward do this at Saints :?:

As for replacement budget the salary cap should take care of that although we'd have to wait for players to come off contract which could be a 2-3 year process at worst. But if confidence can be instilled in the lads rising through the ranks this would be the best option

I'd keep Cook and ditch Worrincy. I'd keep Kopzcak too.

But Worrincy has only been here a season and is still a rough diamond. Cook on the other hand has had countless opportunities to progress and has not taken them. Compare how he and Halley responded after being shipped out to lower clubs - Halley made a name but Cook just came back going through the motions

I'd kick half of the squad if we had the luxury of being able to cut their contracts.

Worrincy is no rough diamond hes a cracked piece of cubc zirconia at best. the guy except for maybe 2 games looks out of his depth, poor signing by macca and part of the dead wood, together with Sherriffe i bet quins board were on the floor pissing themselves laughing.

I disagree i thought Cook got better & better towards the back end of last year, but this year seemed to become the scapegoat when things didn't go right, just as happened under the previous coach.
