I'm not sure where you picked up on this "...arrogant presumption..." as there are many people (myself included) dreading having to go through playoffs what with our record in one-off games being so poor.

And you mention beholding an "arrogant presumption" on this thread whilst also presuming that we would go up as you consider us favourites too? Isn't that a little arrogant?

Besides we are not currently promoted. According to Aaron Bower "...there's now a meeting of Champs/L1 clubs taking place imminently to determine how their competitions are formatted under the new structure. Super League have no say in that - so it's up to them whether Championship goes to 14 etc. Should know more this PM..."

Nothus wrote "This game is meaningless regardless of the outcome of the vote on Friday. The new structure gets approved and we're up anyway. The new structure doesn't get approved and we can't be caught by whoever is in third place so again it doesn't matter."

It says, whatever the scenario, we are going up, no-one can catch or beat us. That's arrogant.

Me saying I think you are favourites to go up, via play offs, is an informed judgement based on the relative strengths and performances of the clubs involved, over the course of the season.

That's not arrogance.

Very interesting what you say about the Champs/L1 clubs now deciding how it works, rather than the simple "promote 1st and 2nd" though - they could keep an play-off system. Maybe clubs have budgeted for those extra games, which would be pretty profitable for the clubs involved.

I think the Champs clubs would very much like Bulls up though, for the same business reasons, and may not want to risk them failing in a one-off game.

That's not what I meant. The game is meaningless because our league position can't change now. York won't slip up so we can't move up to first, and it's impossible for third place to catch us and move us down from second spot in the table.

I wasn't talking about being promoted or the playoffs at all, literally just this weekend's game against Oldham.

I think he knew exactly what you meant; as I'm sure everyone else did. I think he is just here for some stirring.

Thanks. I didn't read it that way, but thanks for the clarity. There is still chance that York could mess up their last game...

Unfortunately I can't see them doing so, but it will be irrelevant if we go out treating the game like Nothus quite rightly pointed out, as the dead rubber it may be.

I think York are worthy of being champions. They have had the edge over us in a couple of areas and are building well as a club

York have been a revelation and I'm absolutely chuffed for them. I hope they can move initially towards 3k a game quickly and really cement themselves as a solid championship team if not more.

M62 closed today. Appears some fans are caught in horrendous traffic jams on the way over to Oldham. No news on whether the team has been impacted by these delays.

Looking like could be Oldham at home for us in play-offs so may help us if a couple of them suspended. I gave up on stream so i don't have a full picture of our performance but from what i saw and from the tweets it sounds like we've been no better. Basic school boy errors and to not score a try in the second half when we had a man advantage is a bit worrying. Much improvement needed.

As it stands, we'll be playing Whitehaven. However, it might be a bit of a catalyst for them to pull out all the stops next week against York and do us a favour.
