West Wales (A) : Mon Sep 03, 2018 9:08 am
So a long trip down to Wales. With many of our squad P/T it could be a draining trip down with many at work the next day. Also with the play-offs coming up, the last thing we need is injuries to Crossley, Ryan etc in a 100+ win (which being the Bulls is almost guaranteed to happen) i'd play the same spine as we did this week to try get them to gel, the rest we can swap over. Let some of the young players have a crack.

I think Matty Storton might get a shot going by what Kear said post match.

Johnny Pownall offers very little for me. I would like to see Ryan Butterworth get a game in this one. Been very strong in reserves and 19s

Thought I'd give a few pointers for any of you heading down, though things might have changed since we visited with York 3 weeks ago.

It's a nice little ground, there's a small car park which fits about 60-70 cars in and which was free when we went down last month, otherwise plenty of on street parking in the area.

There's a good club/bar at the ground. Nothing in the way of programmes (they were doing downloadable PDF ones earlier in the year but even those have stopped), no merchandise, and there was only one turnstile open when we went. It was an odd setup, we only knew there was a match on when we'd got inside and saw the teams warming up, no signs around the ground or any info, almost like they were reluctant to have the game on. The matchday announcer reads the teams/tryscores out in English and Welsh which is interesting.

Also don't be tempted to purchase tickets online, there was no price difference between paying on the gate and buying online, the only difference was buying online incurred a booking fee! Seating was £10 for adults, or if you prefer to stand along the touchline £7 for adults. Again those prices might have changed since, but you should all be rich enough anyway with the RFL personally giving every Bradford fan a cash handout

I'm beginning to think this whole 'cash handout to fans' is a hoax.

I think it is a hoax ,I still haven't got mine. But seriously I've seen somewhere that West Wales are giving £2 from all adult addmisions to a testicular cancer charity. I'm not sure but I think its one of there players who is Ill.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

Dafydd Hellard is the gentleman who requires assistance. He coaches community club Valley Cougars to success, represents Wales Students, and coaches Under Age sides, one of which I saw win after a half-time pep talk.

An absolute gentleman, with a mother who recently won praise from the mayor of Merthyr Tydfil, for opening her cafe at an ungodly hour during the worst of the past winter weather, and giving free breakfasts to an ever increasing group of homeless people.

I first met them both when I was checking out South Wales Ironmen.

Both Sharon, mother, and Daffyd, went well beyond the call of duty one Sunday morning,on my behalf,to assist a complete stranger, just a few days before Dafydd went out to Australia with the Students.

Their generosity of time, and consideration,on a day of rest in a country that still respects the Sabbath, was not something I had experienced before.I was amazed.

A Go Fund Me has passed beyond the initial request. However, costs are rising and the cancer has spread.Obviously he is not working and bills need to be paid.

There is more I can say,but I must remember I cannot dictate who reads it.

You will be able to find out more by asking.

Wishing those travelling to Stebonheath Park a wonderful break. The playing surface is magnificent.

Thank you for your support shown to our players at Odsal.

Please dig deep for Dafydd. He is good friends with Coventry Bears Paul Emanuelli, well he is friends with everybody, but coaches with him,and they spread the word of rugby league over a wide area.

Enjoy the weekend.
