One thing I forgot in my previous post. My grandson had a free shirt to pick up with the season ticket offer. Like I said he's only 13 and with the sizing he needed a large. With large not being a junior shirt the wife had to pay £10 upgrade but still cheap for a replica shirt.

I agree completely. And as I've said, different people will have different opinions as to whether it's the right way or the wrong way to go about things. I tend to fall somewhere in the middle in that it's not great for me personally, but I also kind of think it's maybe what the club needs after years of spending money that didn't exist.

Agree with this. whilst the club are certainly missing out on a portion of short sales due to quality/design issues I'd imagine there still selling the current offering to majority of supporters, and for a shirt that's worn 13 or 14 times a year its ok. Whilst it would be lovely if we got high quality shirts at current pricing its not financially realistic. What there could be a market for is a limited run of high quality shirts, cotton, embroidered badges, probably retro etc to satisfy the demand of those who aren't satisfied with the design/quality of the match replica shirts. Probably have to accept that they would be significantly more expensive in £60-£75 bracket. I seem to remember gang of four launched something similar in their brief reign.

Problem for the club is that someone paying that price for a super dooper quality shirt is likely to want to use it for a few years, so the club would actually lose out financially.

I would definitely buy one. Wakefield have done one that looks great

Yeah understand that side of it but these type of tops do not come around very often, would imagine a lot of people would buy them alongside as long as the club dont start releasing them every year or 2

yes thats the problem. Thats why they would make it a strictly limited run say 100-200 each year, probably make them a pre-order item so theres no excess stock too. Something thats aimed squarely at those who aren't currently purchasing a replica shirt at all for quality/design reasons. If its kept over a few years then its easier to justify the higher cost too.

I'd go for one of those. I still wear the one I bought in 2007 but it's starting to look a bit worn.

I'll be doing the same Bullseye. My traditional cotton replica shirt bought from the club is still in pristine condition. I would be tempted to buy a replica shirt if it was decent quality but although I approve of the Kappa traditional design, the quality looks very poor. £45 for something that costs probably less than £2 to manufacture is simply ripping off the fans......again.

Yeah we did and do but as far as I'm aware we needed ISC's permission and we only produce them in very small quantities so as not to impinge on the seasons replica shirt. So great as they are they are not a money maker so it is a case of a lot of effort for little reward, up to the club and how they feel about it. Also now I think about it and if I recall correctly the first time we did it it wasn't the club who did it but some fans.

Good luck though as I think heritage is vital in our game.

Whilst I can't really disagree with that, we all know the score. We all pretty much understand that, in the continued absence of a long term cash rich backer, if the club doesn't raise cash somehow, it is us, the fans who will will lose out more than anyone if the money doesn't come in.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but to quote the modern political mantra, 'it's the deal on the table and it's the only deal' so, much as it leaves quite a bit to be desired it's better than putting out the begging bowl.
