Well, the relegation bit was just an obvious extension (which he clearly didn't particularly want to highlight, of course..) to what was actually said, so I wouldn't cavil at it, tbh.

Anyone heard where Dom Brambani is heading?

Might he have been a useful signing given he is an experienced Championship player who can cover both 6 & 7. With Wildie apparently off to Leigh, we’ve lost some cover at halfback.

Shame. I think he'd do us a good job for a season. He knows Kear and how he likes to play as well as give us another experienced head in the team because I feel we've lacked experience for a number of seasons and it's cost us

Ok, so it looks like the squad for next year will be

1 Brandon Pickersgill
2 David Foggin-Johnston
3 Jake Webster
4
5 Jy Hitchcox
6 Joe Keyes
7 Jordan Lilley
8
9 Thomas Doyle
10 Steve Crossley
11 Connor Farrell
12 Matty Storton
13 Elliot Minchella
14 Evan Hodgson
15 Rowan Milnes
16. Joe Brown

So we're light in the forwards, especially at prop and we need a bit more experience at hooker. We also need some quality for the wing/centres. Certainly a centre on the other side of the field who can match Webster's contributions would be a big plus. Also, as Chalmers has said we're looking to sign 9 players, I'd assume it's this 9 who've played for the team this year but have yet to be announced as leaving

Liam Kirk
Mikey Wood
Ross Peltier
Sam Hallas
George Flanagan
Dalton Grant
George Milton
Ross Oakes
Rhys Evans

They'd help flesh out the side and give us a bit of competition for places. I'd be happier with a couple of new faces coming in, but it seems the RFL's plan to screw over our recruitment for 2020 has paid off for them and beggars can't be choosers and we'll have to make do with what we can get. Hopefully the DR partnership will prove to be a benefit - I'd prefer an established SL side to partner with.

George Milton has retired and taken up a job outside the game.

So we still need to improve the wing/centre and props.

The big thing is really who we get DR with, because if we keep hold of the guys who are out of contract but wanting to stay along with the guys already signed, then I could see us finishing 2020 in a similar position to this year. A solid DR partner could mean we're in a position to push on for play-offs

I assume we’ve looked at the models Leigh and York went for. York had a relatively thin squad, but used DR really well, no Distractions and built through the season.
Leigh were the same, added to their squad through the season as finances improved and squad SL players became available.
Our finances should improve through next season as we’ve (hopefully) not lost too much income, but should have significantly minimised expenditure
