Hadn't heard that but when I spoke to Flanagan at Odsal recently said no discussions had taken place regarding a new contract.

I wouldn't mid signing Ryan Shaw back from HKR. Very good scoring record and a superb goalkicker as we know from his time with us. He is off contract at HKR and I don't think it would break the bank to sign him.

I did think about Ryan Shaw too, but I think the Brown signing probably means we won't be in for him. Shaw would probably have pretty high wage demands too I reckon.

In order of priority I'd hope we were looking for a halfback, a prop forward and a front row/loose.
I'm actually ok with the backs we have and I think if Grant and Gibson leave then players from our academy can step up.

The foundations of a good side are built in the pack and the halves. The backs are essentially luxuries and I wouldn't want us to be using too much of our budget in that area. You could argue that whilst Webster has been very good for us and very consistent, we're still not getting our money's worth because our play is so poor that he never gets the ball in a position where he can do damage with it.

Every good side has an excellent spine which the rest of the team should be built around. I completely understand what you are saying about Webster as he should be lethal from 20yrds out yet he rarely gets the ball at full pace.

For me, Hitchcox could be awesome from full back in the same vain Jake Mullaney did from that position if we decided to let the players play what is in front of them.

Another half back to compliment Lilley and Keyes (depends on how Milnes recovers), two new wingers and a new prop would also be on my priority wish list.

I think if we are to be ambitious about making a real push up the table we need to make a good 6-7 new signings for next season.

Would he?

He's being let go by a team that still might get relegated. How many clubs are going to be offering him big money? I would have thought the chance to be FT at a club like us is possibly as good as it would get for him for next season...

I suppose it depends on what you class as 'high'. All I meant was that anyone with super league experience on their resume is automatically going to demand a higher salary by default.

I see that Hull FC continue to p*ss around with one of our most prodigal talents of recent years by sending Cameron Scott on loan out to York for a month.
If they don't want him I'm sure we'd be willing to take him off their hands...

Maybe.

We signed Webster, Hitchcox, Evans etc last close season, so we're certainly not averse to signing people with plenty of SL experience, so why not Shaw?

So, very good at 'stringing' passes together then  Auto-correct, eh?

Joking aside, how many games would that backline ever play together? Webster can't play on artificial pitches or two games in a week, Evans gets injured for fun, Brown played 20 minutes for us before getting injured etc etc.

We'd need another three or four decent 'back ups' if that was our first choice. Otherwise we end up with Minchella being played at Centre again.
