Disappointing but we're not the first or last team Fev will do that too, hence their 424+ points difference. Plus fact it was our second game in 5 days and Feb have luxury of playing a fresh star like Kheirallah.

Dont think there was a lack of effort, we were still having a dig, we just got beat by a much bigger, faster, better team.

We just have to dust ourselves off and get ready for a crucial game against Sheffield now.

I'm not sure we have any crucial matches now do we? I think we've seen enough to know we are destined to be also rans this year. I'm not sure of the financial implications between sneaking into 6th and finishing 8th but I'm not particularly interested in seeing us make up the numbers and get walloped in the play offs either. The crucial bit for me, is who is getting the gig to try and rebuild the squad or not as it may be. Sounds like Doyle will be gone so that's another big loss, but we can hope JK might come in for some of his mates like Fleming.

I get what you're saying but I still think it's important we make the play-offs. Having a season where we fade to 8th could be a disaster. Look at the state Widnes are in as a result. We can't take our bat and ball home and just give up because we're not as good as Fev or Leigh. If we get into the top 6 we're capable of beating a Batley/Fax/York etc.

We talk about changing the culture, that starts with our attitude when things are tough and going against us.

In order to get a result at Fev you need a good quality side that’s fit and motivated. That wasn’t going to be us yesterday because of fundamental problems that have been around long before Mark Dunning got the caretaker coaching job. You can’t change a culture in a few weeks. Whoever gets the job will need a season to do it at least. It took that for Elliott and Smith in 95/96 and it took Potter a season to get over the McNamara era in 2011/12.

The difference in playing budget is harder to solve but let’s not measure ourselves against Fev at the moment. First we need to start performing against clubs with similar or lower budgets like Sheffield, Batley, Barrow and Halifax. We’ll do that with solid recruitment, good fitness and conditioning and some decent coaching. That must be the aim for next season as finishing 6-8th isn’t good enough on current budgets. Other clubs do better with less.
