Just got into this podcast. One interesting thing they say is that when Sam came back to Souths after his holiday in growler ball he was offered a contract to play for Salford for one season. Koukash offered him £1million. How is that possible given the salary cap or would that have been a marquee signing thing?

This would have been 2016.

Cant imagine much interest in this post to be honest. Who cares what may or may not have happened at another club 6 years ago

This would have been 2016.

Probably £100,000 for him to play and £900,000 for Mrs B to work in the team shop

I know an ex SL player through a friend and in the early / mid 2000s they received a number of “bonuses” that weren’t paid by the club directly.

With the salary cap this type of stuff will always go on. Sadly not at our level, unless Wood is offering free membership to the Bull Ring.

Happened quite a lot back then. Sponsors donating money or employing spouses on mega contracts for 2 hours a week of work. Cheeky.

Could have imagined this but didn't a business man pay sammuts wage when he was at worky? So it didn't count on the cap for then

I thought Sammut’s wage counted on the cap but was covered by a sponsor / business man.
